Tips for a New Homeowner

So you just acquired a new Home, congratulations! Here are some things you should consider now that you are a new Homeowner.

  1. Don’t Overspend of Furniture and Remodeling – Simple as that, its not a priority even though sometimes it seems so, you already spent a lot of money, keeping you budget tighter is important, so make do with what the house brings or try and get second hand furnishings for the time being;
  2. Don’t Ignore Important Maintenance Items – Stuff like pipes, electrical system, paint are not complicated to maintain if done properly, however repairing them after they fail is much more expensive as such make sure everything that is expensive to fix is properly maintained
  3. Hire Qualified People – If its for managing you can call us! : ) but for fixes or small renovations please try and find qualified people, they normally are a bit more expensive but the job gets done faster and well and that’s what you want.
  4. Take Advantage of Tax Benefits – There are some tax benefits to be had, so check with your accountant to see if you are eligible for some deductions on your taxes.
  5. Get Properly Insured – Taking care of your insurance can make the difference between losing the house and keeping it if something goes wrong, so go take care of it.
